The Green Planet
The Green Planet is a unique, biodome-style rainforest experience located in City Walk, Dubai. It is the first of its kind in the Middle East and offers visitors a chance to explore the wonders of nature up close. Entry to The Green Planet is AED 150 per person. The Green Planet is the world’s largest indoor rainforest, and is designed to replicate the conditions of a tropical rainforest. It is home to over 3,000 plants and animals, including birds, reptiles, and insects.
Height: The Green Planet stands at 28 meters (92 feet) high.
Location: The Green Planet is located in City Walk, Dubai.
Design: The biodome is designed to replicate a tropical rainforest environment and contains a variety of trees and plants, as well as a host of exotic birds, animals and reptiles.
Structure: The Green Planet is a three-story structure with a total area of 3,000 square meters (32,000 square feet). The upper two levels are dedicated to the rainforest, while the lower level houses the educational areas, gift shop, cafe and other amenities.
Features: The Green Planet features a variety of interactive exhibits, educational programs and activities, and a 25-meter tall rainforest-inspired climbing wall.
Cost: The Green Planet, located in Dubai, was constructed at a cost of around US$54 million.The project was funded by the Dubai government, which provided US$45 million, and a private investor, who provided the remaining US$9 million.
Build Time: The Green Planet took approximately two years to build, with construction beginning in 2015 and the grand opening taking place in 2017.
The Mosque of Light
Height: The Mosque of Light is a magnificent structure which stands at 75 meters high.
Location: The Mosque of Light is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between the Dubai Creek and the iconic Burj Al Arab.
Design: This stunning mosque was designed by the renowned architect Dr. Mohamed al-Sayyed, who specializes in Islamic architecture. The design of the mosque is inspired by the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The building features a unique combination of traditional Islamic architecture, modern design elements and natural materials.
Structure: The Mosque of Light is an eight-sided structure built of steel, concrete and glass, with a central dome surrounded by four minarets. The dome is made of glass and the walls are decorated with intricate carvings and calligraphy.
Features: The interior of the mosque is breathtakingly beautiful and includes a large prayer hall, a library, a lecture hall and a number of smaller prayer rooms. The mosque also features a state-of-the-art sound system, making it ideal for hosting special events.
Cost of Build: The Mosque of Light was financed by the government of Dubai, who spent an estimated $35 million on its construction.
Build Time: Construction of the Mosque of Light began in 2008 and the building was completed in 2011.
